26 July 2014, 20:00 h, “Bear’s House”, at the foot of Perelik Peak
On 26 July 2014, at 20:00 h, Perelik Infrastructure Company, in cooperation with AmCham Bulgaria, and with the support of The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, organized the Perelik Eco Jazz Festival “The Sound of Silence”. The Festival was held for a ninth consecutive year and it is unique with its environmental focus and combination of the idea ofimprovisation and creativity with the environmental protection as its core value. The event takes place at 2191 meters above sea level at the foot of the Perelik Peak in the Rhodope Mountains, on the stage of the “Bears’ House”.
That year, honorary guest of the Festival was one of the best violin players in the world currently – Vesko Eschkenazy – soloist and concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
The jazz line of the Festival presented the Paolo Di Sabatino Trio of the famous Italian pianist, who had played and recorded with such renowned musicians as John Patitucci, Bob Mintzer, Billy Cobham, John Abercrombie, Peter Erkine, Dave Samuels, Enrico Rava and many others, and for the first time on a Bulgarian stage – the Kuba Stankewich Trio of the famous Polish pianist and composer, winner of the Oscar Peterson Award and a semifinalist in The Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition in Washington, DC.
The unique voice and energy of Zhana Bergnedorff (Winner of X factor – Bulgaria 2014) fascinated the audience on the stage under the stars of Perelik Peak.
Famous Bulgarian pipers and Serbian Brass Orchestra Barka brought an ethno atmosphere to the Festival.
