3 – 9 June 2018, Smolyan, Bulgaria
ACB’s youth organization, the Bulgarian Euro-Atlantic Youth Club (BEAYC), organized a week-long international NATO Summer School in the period 3 – 9 June 2018, in Smolyan, Bulgaria, on the topic “NATO: Strengthening Transatlantic Dialog and Cooperation in 2018”.
The seminar, which was the fifth of its kind, was supported by NATO and focused on addressing NATO’s top priority actions for dealing with the challenges in the changing international environment. The key topics included: Bulgaria’s membership and priorities in NATO; the #WEARENATO campaign; the impact of BREXIT on the Common Foreign and Security policy of the EU; NATO-EU cooperation; the unpredictable behavior of North Korea; the continuing fight against ISIS and terrorism in general; cyber security and cyber defense; the impact of fake news; NATO relations with Russia after the presidential elections in 2018; future enlargement of NATO; and the new role of NATO in Afghanistan.
Besides attending a number of intriguing lectures, the participants (young students and professionals, aged 20 – 30 years old and interested in security and defense) were welcomed to take part in fun social activities.
