13 – 15 December 2016, Podgorica, Montenegro
In the period 13 – 15 December 2016, The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Armed Forces Women Association and the Montenegrin American Youth Alumni Association, with the support of The NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, organized an advanced workshop titled “Women building peace: What They Do, Why It Matters – Resolution 1325” in Podgorica, Montenegro.
The workshop put together representatives from NATO Member States and partner countries, who discussed the development of Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council, the need for unified law, new understanding and more talks and research on the topic. The idea was to raise the issue and its importance, while discussing female participation in conflicts, the importance of studying the area, the gaps that need to be filled and the specific issues that women face in this environment. The event gathered representatives from the military, NGO and government sectors – over 21 speakers from NATO Member States and Partner Countries.
