3-9 June 2019, Smolyan, Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Euro-Atlantic Youth Club, organizes for a sixth consecutive year a week-long international summer school. This year the topic of the seminar will be “NATO at 70 and the Road Ahead”. The event will take place on 3 – 9 June 2019 in Smolyan, Bulgaria. The event is supported by NATO, the European Commission Representation in Sofia and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
This year’s seminar will be focused on numerous and diverse topics such as the NATO@70 campaign, current international crisis, the cooperation between NATO and the EU, the cyber security and NATO challenges and concerns in 2019. This wide variety of crucial topics will create a forum where young people with different nationalities and backgrounds will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of NGOs, media, government officials, and participate in panel discussions, workshops and debates, presented by experts, professors and competitive speakers and last but not least, to discuss and exchange ideas about NATO’s current and future role in the ongoing international threats and challenges.
This year the seminar will include a one-day discussion among the participants on the topic “What is NATO for me”. This discussion will enable each participant to make a short presentation on what is NATO for their country and how they see the future of the Alliance from their country’s prospective as well as from an international point of view.
The participants will have the opportunity to take part in workshops with students from the local high schools (around 500 high school students) and to share with them their experience and knowledge.
During this one-week seminar, the participants will also create videos sharing what NATO means to them. These videos will be disseminated in their countries and the NATO network, in order to reach more people.
