Between 1982 and 1984 he completed a postgraduate specialization course at the General Staff Academy of the Armed Forces of Russia in Moscow. He has a Master’s Degree in Operational, Tactical and Strategic Leadership of the Armed Forces. In 1994 he took a special OSCE officers course at NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy. After his graduation from the Higher National Military Artillery School, he held various commander and staff positions:
From September 2000 to February 2002, he was Commandant of the “G.S.Rakovski” National Military Academy. In 2002 he retired from the Bulgarian Armed Forces and was appointed Director for Defense Planning at the Ministry of Defense. Until July 2009 he was President of the Center for National Security Research Foundation. On August 1st 2009 he assumed office as Deputy Minister of Defense. On January 27th 2010 Anyu Angelov was elected Minister of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria. Mr. Angelov is an Honourable Member of NATO Defense College Anciens’ Association. Mr. Angelov has been awarded an order of merit, medals, a Commendation Medal “For Meritorious Service under the Colours” – First Grade and other awards. |
